World’s Largest Girlfriend Getaway on South Beach, Miami

MiamiSouthBeach2_596

Last weekend the girls ruled Miami’s South Beach and the guys were definitely drooling! Loews Miami Beach Hotel hosted the wildly successful “World’s Largest Girlfriend Getaway” event which saw the hotel bursting at the seams with women. Men staying at the hotel were definitely outnumbered, not that there was much complaining from guys about the abundance of bikini clad women on the pool deck or dancing the night away in Loews Hemisphere Lounge. If you attended Loews “Largest Girlfriend Getaway on South Beach” in Miami Florida, during the weekend of April 16th to 18th, you would have had an opportunity to experience tons of great female friendly activities and have a blast with your gal pals. Best of all, Loews did all of the hard work of organizing an awesome girlfriend getaway. All the girls had to do was have fun… and they did!

Here are some of the highlights from the weekend:

Friday Night Fun

Happy Hour at Loews

MiamiSouthBeachConcierge_300This is where the fun started. The weekend was kicked off in grand style with Voli vodka cocktails, champagne and sushi snacks. The food and the booze flowed, helping to get everyone in the party mood while David and Jorge, the official girlfriend getaway guys, (concierges) worked the crowd. After testing out the many concoctions made by the friendliest bartenders on South Beach, it was decided that the “Flirt” cocktail needed to be the official drink for the upcoming weekend!

Dancing the Night Away at the Cameo Nightclub in South Beach

The girls were invited to dance the night away at one of Miami Beach’s top spots, the legendary Cameo Night Club. With no cover charge and a complimentary drink awaiting the Loews getaway group, the nightclub was the place to be on Friday night!

Saturday Sizzles

Feeling hot, hot, hot… Salsa!

MiamiSouthBeachSalsa_300After a leisurely and complimentary breakfast at Loews Preston Brassiere it was time to have fun and work off that extra helping of pancakes with a salsa-dancing lesson held in Loews Poinciana Ballroom. Everyone learned how to shake, sway and sizzle on the dance floor with Miami’s best – Salsa Mia.

Poolside Paradise

One of the most popular activities of the weekend was just hanging out by the pool reconnecting with old and new friends. Loews made this easy and fun by reserving a Girlfriend Getaway section for women wanting to chill and chat while catching some rays.

Shopping and Pampering

Another fun activity organized by Loews was the shopping and pampering extravaganza held by the pool. There was no need to get dressed and out for that retail therapy or quickie mani/pedi! Everybody loved Sex and the City 2 costume designer Danny Santiago’s fashion advice and his easy-to-create couture.

Gourmet Eats

MiamiSouthBeachMichelleBernstein_300All that tanning, shopping and pampering can make a girl feel a bit peckish, Loews figured this might be the case and the next thing offered up on the schedule was the “Sweet or Savory” Event.

There was lots of cooking and taste testing done with celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein and top pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith during this well attended mid afternoon break.

The best part was getting to sample our very own dish of yumminess concocted by these two great ladies. Plate after plate of fresh sauteed snapper, and mini gourmet donuts were enjoyed during the fun demo.

Saturday Happy Hour

MiamiSouthBeachHappyHour_300Loews South Beach lounge was the gathering place for the start of the evening festivities. By this time guys were amassed on the sidelines and champing at the bit, but who can blame them for trying to crash the party, with tons of chicks in attendance and all of them dressed up for an evening of fun. The girls ignored the commotion, preferring to hang out with gal pals, sampling some yummy drinks and appetizers, while learning how to create the perfect cocktail with the Voli Vodka mixologist.

Miami’s Design District

Next up was dining out at Miami’s exciting and hot Design District. A shuttle bus transported the ‘hungry for more good eats’ crowd for dinner at Sra. Martinez or Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink both offering a customized Girlfriends Menu.

Dancing at the Mansion

What better way to end a day than with dancing at Miami’s premiere nightclub, the Mansion? The visit to Others Play House at Mansion made everyone feel like a ‘celebrity’ at one of the most recognized clubs in South Beach.

Soothing Sunday

Yoga Zen Den

Green Monkey Yoga helped everyone recover from the night before, as well as restore a bit of balance and supply some much-needed serenity. This was a perfect antidote for the excesses of the weekend!

Breakfast with Marianna Olzewski

Loews went all out and provided a huge breakfast buffet just for the Girlfriend Getaway crowd. Beautifully displayed and delicious pastries, fresh fruit, breakfast goodies and several omelet stations (so no one would be keep waiting for too long) were stationed though out the room. As everyone tucked into their breakfast, New York Times bestselling author of the book, Live It, Love It, Earn It, Marianna Olzewski entertained with heartwarming stories about her difficult struggle to find happiness, how she learned to succeed in business and live the life she had always wanted. She also shared her tips on how women can let go of stress, break bad money habits, take control of finances and achieve their own personal goals.

Lets hope that Loews makes this an annual event because it is a real keeper in our books. The weekend was everything a girl could wish for in a girlfriend getaway, tons of laughs, fun activities, plenty of bonding time with friends and a stay at a spectacular hotel on South Beach! Well done Loews and pretty please invite us again to your next “World’s Largest Girlfriend Getaway on South Beach.”
