Ultimate Girls’ Trip to Barbados

Barbados Girls Getaway

last minute

It’s pink! Yes, a pink sand beach, what more could you want for the ultimate girls’ trip to Barbados? Well, maybe add in a beautiful resort, great food and warm Caribbean hospitality? If this all sounds like something you want on a girls’ trip in the sun, head over to the Crane Resort in Barbados for a luxurious, spoiled holiday.

Plunge Pool Suite at the Crane Resort

On an ultimate girls’ getaway to Barbados you need to stay at Barbados most beautiful resort. This is the Crane. The best thing about staying at the Crane is it can be an affordable luxury. When you split the cost of staying in one of the Crane’s incredibly spacious 2 bedroom suites between the girls, it is pricey but affordable. Especially when you factor in the cost savings of having your own kitchen.

We booked a 2 bedroom suite with a plunge pool, the suite came equipped with two enormous bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the living room This place was bigger and definitely more luxurious than my first house! As soon as we entered the suite we knew that we were in for a wonderful week. Each bedroom had an enormous ensuite bathroom as well as a small washroom off the large living room, and a well-equipped kitchen. The plunge pool was small but private, we ended each day on our ocean view balcony, with a glass of wine, lounging in the pool, it was simply divine.

If you want a wee bit bigger swimming spot, the Crane delivers with 2 large pools (one was an adult only pool, bliss!) as well as the pink beach. We had a hard time deciding where to spend our leisure days, beautiful pool or our balcony or the beach? It was a lovely problem to deal with…

The Crane also comes equipped with a wee village, yes indeed. The village boasts an ice cream shoppe (of course), a general store, clothing boutique and restaurants. Be sure to reserve the gospel breakfast if you are at the resort on a Sunday, what a treat!

Visit a Rum Shack in Barbados

You can’t miss them, on this small island there seems to be a rum shack on every corner. You can head to your local rum shack or visit the most popular shack on the island. Both will deliver the true rum shack experience but maybe not a pristine beach location. We loved our local rum shack we found just off of Crane’s Pink Beach, it was fun, friendly and a great place to drink with the local crowd and it was pretty basic. If you want an instagram Rum Shack moment head to the John Moore Rum Shack in Weston, this is the ultimate in Barbados Rum Shacks. Plain and simple in the front, then when you head out to the back patio, viola you are on the beach! The view is simply wow. The shack backs onto a beautiful pristine white sand beach where you can sip potent rum punches, dip your toes in the warm ocean and enjoy the simple life in the Caribbean.

Plantation Life in Barbados

If you love beautiful mansions, local history and sugar, you should visit the St. Nicholas Abbey in Barbados, located about an hours drive from the Crane Resort. The Great House in St. Nicholas Abbey was built in 1658 and is just one of three Jacobean mansions left in the Western Hemisphere. Sugar cane fields surround the plantation, and you can visit the sugar syrup mill during your visit. Admission also includes a tour of the Great House and if you want an up close and personal visit to the Plantation’s working rum distillery you can book a Rum Experience Tour on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
