World Bike Tour for Women Travelers

This is what we would call the ultimate girl’s biking getaway! The imaginative minds at Pedalers Pub & Grille decided to celebrate their 25 years of organizing bicycle tours in grand fashion. Pedalers Pub & Grille announced it’s newest cycling holiday – Once In A Lifetime. True to its name, the tour will take guests to many well known bike touring destinations, as well as many hidden wonders off the beaten tourist path. The 8 month adventure launches in June 2012, with a get to know you ride in rural Vermont, then riders are off to Europe. Tour participants will explore a wide variety of regions, environments and cultures as they pedal through Europe, Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, South America and Latin America before returning to the USA.

Each of the stops has been designed in concert with our local cyclists, combining Pedalers years of experience with organizing international tours and our local guide’s intimate knowledge of the region.

“We have tried to incorporate a grand sampling of cycling opportunities around the world, both those that are well known to the cycling community, as well as those that have remained a secret, know only to knowledgeable locals” says Tom Sheehan, founder and Managing Director.

The cycling routes mix a wide variety of challenge and difficulty, ranging from flat runs through emerald rice paddies to climbs in the Alps made famous by the Tour de France. Guests will roll through many of the planet’s environments, pedaling across desert regions in India, through rainforests in Asia, across towering mountain passes in the Andes and much more.

Once In A Lifetime gets underway with a variety of European rides, pedaling the west coast of Ireland followed by a journey across southern France’s Dordogne and Alps regions. Guests will pedal the medieval cities of Germany’s Romantische Straße and around the dramatic Sella Ronda in the Dolomites. Then finish with a ride through both Slovenia and Umbria. A couple of bike & sail combos highlight the Middle East section, along with visits to historic landmarks such as Jerusalem and Petra, as the bikers visit Turkey, Israel, Jordan and Egypt. The dark continent is next with a ride along South Africa’s Garden Route and a visit to Kenya, plus two weeks in Madagascar, a fascinating destination rarely visited by cycling groups.

Once in a Lifetime Bike TourFlying next to Asia, riders will explore the ancient cities of Rajasthan and the fabled hidden Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, before stopping off in Chiang Mai for a special 25th anniversary celebration, as Thailand was Pedalers first destination back in 1987. Once In A Lifetime will continue across Southeast Asia, from Chiang Mai to Hanoi, then head to Bali for a relaxing week off. Riders will also pedal around in Tasmania, New Zealand’s South Island and French Polynesia as they traverse the South Pacific. Winding things down in the Americas, will be a ride across the Andes connecting Chile with Argentina, a trip to famed Machu Picchu in Peru and a final ride from the mountains to the coast in Costa Rica.

Once In A Lifetime is scheduled to set out on 30 June 2012, finishing back in the states on the 23rd of January 2013. The cost includes most everything needed for the journey of a lifetime, including airfares, custom built bike, visa fees, hearty meals, delightful lodging, gregarious guides and more.
